Flight Experience for Youth has a Successful First Year

A big THANK YOU goes out to the many Sugarbush Soaring members and “Friends of Sugarbush Soaring” who generously supported our new 501C(3) Flight Experience For Youth (FEFY) program.  The FEFY Board of Directors is extremely pleased with the results of our first year for contributions for Sugarbush Soaring’s student flight programs, which brought in $22,300.

Our request for contributions was sent out with a pamphlet explaining the student flight
programs to over 120 members and friends, with seventeen members contributing
$15,900 and eleven “Friends” contributing $6,400.

The contributions covered $10,000 of expenses for the SSA Student Line Crew Program in 2006, as well as the one-time expenses in setting up FEFY.  We are also able to offer two $1600 scholarships to students from high schools surrounding the Mad River Valley to participate in this year’s Summer Camp Program from Sunday, July 29 through August 4.  Notices of the scholarships have been placed in local high schools and in the Community News sections of the Valley Reporter and the Times Argus newspapers.

There is a balance left in the FEFY account toward our annual goal of supporting all our student flight programs this year, and toward our future goal of possibly purchasing another Blanik glider for use with these programs and lease-back to Sugarbush Soaring for other needs.  We hope members and friends will again support us this year, and we particularly hope that the other members who have not yet had the opportunity to contribute will do so this year.

The Flight Experience For Youth Board of Directors again THANKS YOU for helping
to meet it’s goals in developing new pilots.

FEFY Board
Ginny Hanson, Bob Holden, Bob Messner, Frank Rodgers
